Learn to weave using a rigid heddle weaving loom.  Our full day scarf weaving workshops are a popular choice for beginner and improving weavers.

Location: Alderbury Village Hall, Rectory Rd, Alderbury, Salisbury SP5 3AD.  There is plenty of free parking.

Time:  10am-4.30pm

Activity:  Participants will be taught how to weave on a rigid heddle loom.  Participants will be able to weave a length of 100% British wool woven fabric sufficient for a cowl, table runner or full length scarf.

Most participants weave the full length scarf in the day and are able to take the scarf home to then wash and finish. Participants have a choice of colours of yarn which is used to warp the loom ahead of the workshop with a good range of yarn colours then being available for the weaving on the day. It would be useful to bring a pair of scissors with you.

Things for you to do at booking:   If you are able to choose your yarn colours from choices A-I at the time of booking this would be very helpful - just add a note at checkout along with any allergies or things we need to be aware of prior to the day.

Skill Level:  This course is suitable for beginners who have not woven before.  For participants who have woven before there is the option of learning how to use pick up sticks to introduce different patterns and textures into your weaving.  We also demonstrate how to warp a rigid heddle loom with hints and tips for this process for those interested in learning how the loom has been set up prior to the day which is useful for those wishing to buy a loom to weave on.

Refreshments:  Participants to bring their own lunch and tea, coffee, water, and biscuits are available during the day.

Rigid Heddle Loom:  You will be using a loom during the workshop and there is the option of purchasing a new rigid heddle loom at the end of the day if you wish.

Cancellation:  If you give more than 14 days’ notice to cancel a place on a workshop we will be happy to transfer you to another workshop, space permitting.  If there is no suitable future dates for you to transfer to we can provide a voucher to be used for a future workshop booking, this will be valid for one year from the date of issue.  You are welcome to send someone in your place at any time but they will be weaving with your colour choices and you must let us know in advance who will be attending.  If you give less than 14 days notice to cancel a place on a workshop then we can only transfer you to a future workshop if your place is re-sold
